Good news:
You don’t have to have an opinion today.
You could read, or watch, or listen to a story.
You could let the facts guide your thoughts,
and your feelings.
You don’t have to post on social media.
You’re not required to demonstrate any sort of intelligence or status today.
That time will come,
in conversations with loved ones,
so save your energy.
***
You don’t have to hate on someone today.
There are plenty of people who deserve our condemnation.
Also good news:
If we all condemn them minorly,
that is to say,
we agree to condemn them and move on,
we don’t have to carry that much hatred.
You could try to lighten the load today.
There are people who are taking care of those people.
***
You might say,
“But we’re paying for it!”
Minorly.
And it should be a small contribution we all make.
But when you hate and have bad opinions,
you create a larger, heavier, unnecessary contribution.
And we the people are forced to watch you
expend your energy needlessly.
***
You don’t have to judge the world today.
It’s rarely black and white,
and we rarely need definitive answers.
We work well with probabilities,
investments,
mutual trust.
You don’t have to give all the reasons for mistrust.
We don’t need such a pronouncement today.
***
You could be quiet today,
and learn,
listen,
study something for more than a minute.
Make it something serious,
like war,
relationships,
or art.
Let your mind fill with a stranger essence,
and then follow it as it explores new paths,
makes new questions.
More questions is usually good news too.
